Tom Rudolph joined the Pew Environment Group in 2011 as policy and research manager for the Forage Fish Conservation Initiative.  He works in three regions New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Pacific Coast on promoting precautionary management practices for forage fish in order to ensure the dietary needs of marine predators are met. 

Prior to joining Pew, he was the Herring Campaign Operations Director (2007-2010) and Cooperative Research Director (2003-2007) for the Cape Cod Commercial Hook Fishermen’s Association, a conservation-oriented commercial fishermen’s organization whose mission is to protect the ocean in order to protect their traditional businesses and their way of life. As Herring Campaign Operations Director he provided operations management for a complex, aggressive conservation campaign for which he also served as a senior policy analyst.  This work engrained skills including project and budget management, logistical problem-solving, experimental and field protocol design, technical writing, and data management and analysis. 

He also co-authored two peer reviewed journal articles.  Lastly, Tom has worked as a deckhand on commercial fishing vessels.  He is a graduate of Cornell University .
