Eleanor Huffines joined the Pew Environment Group in 2009 as manager of the U.S. Arctic Program.
Before working for Pew, Huffines was the Alaska director for the Wilderness Society. In that role, she worked extensively with communities, government personnel and members of Congress to influence policy affecting the environment, subsistence cultures and sustainable development. Huffines also was policy and conservation director for the National Outdoor Leadership School. She has served on the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council, the Bureau of Land Management Resource Advisory Council and the board of directors for Trustees for Alaska, a public interest law firm.
Huffines holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
